Dallas, Texas -- Ronald R. Dowd, 78, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 in Dallas. He was born on August 2, 1946 in McKinney, Texas, to loving parents Walter and Leona Dowd. Ron often spoke fondly of his childhood and youth in small town McKinney. Ron later served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war. Ron returned to the U.S. and worked at Channel 4 Television in Dallas, where he retired from over 40 years later. Ron married Toni, and together they adopted 2 daughters. Ron shared his love of music, poetry, MASH (TV show), and the outdoors with his daughters. In his later years, Ron enjoyed breakfast at Cindi's, his neighbor Veronica's home cooked meals, spending time with his dog, and frequent visits with his daughters. Ron was well-loved by his neighbors, whom he considered family and spoke highly of. A celebration of life will take place at a later time, with exact dates and times to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 988 Lifeline. Ron is survived by his daughters, Sarah Murillo and Rebekkah Dowd, and his dog, Max. He will be missed by all who knew him. While Ron will be grieved by his loved ones, they may take comfort in knowing he is at peace.
