Ruth Groessel

Ruth Anna Groessel (Jarrett), wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and “Mama Ruth” to the many she embraced with open arms, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in her home on Thursday, September 30, 2025 in Keene, Texas at the age of 63.

Born on January 10, 1962, “Ruthie” was the beloved youngest daughter of Margaret Perkins. Throughout her life, Ruth was the life of the party, friend to many, stranger to none and known for her ability to help any and all during difficult times. Her giving nature and effervescent presence ensured that she enlivened every room she entered.

Ruth had a passion for storytelling and was a natural wordsmith, her charisma and charm fully captivating you in her anecdotes. She was an avid reader, and she cherished camping trips and other occasions that brought her loved ones together. Above all, she dedicated her time and heart to her family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter and unbreakable bonds.

Ruth is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years Bruce Groessel, who was the anchor of her life.

She was the matriarchal glue of an extensive blended family.
Her daughters, Brandy Hicks, Kathryn Groessel and son-in-law Hector Sarmiento, Emily Selby and son-in -law Travis Selby, and Laura Groessel.
Her sons, Bruce Groessel Jr and James Treadway (who preceded her in death).
Her 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren whom she was fiercely proud of and endlessly bragged about.

Ruth is also survived by her loving mother Margaret Perkins, her sister Virginia Stillwell and brother-in-law Ron Stillwell, her sister Vivian Henry, and her many nieces and nephews. Her brother Ricky Jarrett and brother-in-law Jeff Henry precede her in death.

“Ruthless” or “Goofy” as she was affectionately known will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but the love she shared and the laughter she inspired will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
