BURLESON — Samuel William Kinser, 63, passed away Wedndesday, May 16, 2012. Funeral: Noon, Monday at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home Chapel, Delvin Wiles officiating. Interment: 2 p.m. Monday at the Dallas Fort Worth National. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Samuel William Kinser was born July 24, 1948 in Galveston, Texas. He was the ninth of twelve children born to Elwin and Iona Kinser. He started school at Friendswood, Texas and attended thru the second grade. The family then moved to Hasty, Colorado in 1957, where he attended Lakeview school. He graduated from high school in 1967 in McClave, Colorado. Sam enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1971. He was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany where he met his lovely wife, Brigitte whom he married September 28, 1973. They made their home in Germany for four more years. He was then stationed at Fort Hood, Texas for two years, then in Baumholder, Germany for three years and in 1982 to Fort Riley, Kansas. After serving at Fort Riley, he decided to end his Army career and attend college, earning his business degree. During this time he enlisted in the National Guard and was stationed in Kerrville, Texas. While in Kerrville, Sam and Brigitte adopted their son, Casey Samuel. Sam’s career flourished in the National Guard and promotion followed quickly. Retiring after thirty-four years of devoted service as a Sergeant-Major, he returned to his home in Burleson, Texas, where he lived out his life with his family. Survivors: wife, Brigitte; son, Casey; seven sisters, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and two brothers, Jacob and Gerald.
