Shirley Ann (Cason) Butler
August 28th 1940 - October 21st 2025
Surrounded by her 3 loving children, Shirley peacefully and gracefully left this world on Tuesday October 21st 2025. She was preceded in death by her father and mother- Hubert and Gracie Cason, her husband O.K. Butler, sister-in-law Rhonda Cason and son-law Kerry Bredemeyer. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Cason of Stephenville, her children Bess Ann Bredemeyer of Weatherford, Jerry Don Butler of Minneapolis, Michael Butler of Park City, 2 nephews, Scotty (Janie) Cason and Daniel (Kristi) Cason, and 3 grandchildren; Arewna Butler and Delyla “Paul” Butler of Minneapolis, and Hanna Bredemeyer of Houston.
Shirley was born in Tolar, Texas and moved to Kermit, Texas as a teenager. She graduated from Howard Payne University and taught elementary school in Lubbock, Ft. Worth, and Crowley, Texas. She married O. K. Butler in 1963. She attended Southcliff Baptist Church in Ft. Worth for many years, was the church secretary for several years and was involved in many church activities such as drama and the Singing Christmas Tree. For about 30 years she worked in the accounting department for Mrs. Baird’s bakery in Ft. Worth.
After the passing of her husband, she moved to Port Isabel, Texas and lived on the international waterway. She spent her days watching the dolphins and enjoying the company of her family and neighbors. In her later years she moved back to the DFW metroplex and lived with her daughter, Bess Ann and son-in-law Kerry Bredemeyer. She was a devoted member of Lakeshore Baptist Church.
Shirley was well known for her positive attitude and determined joy. She studied the bible throughout her life and taught many bible studies along the way. Shirley always saw the good in life, and in people. Each day she chose Joy and spread love to all she encountered.
