With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Skipper “Skip” Duane Harold Ashton on October 30, 2025. Skip was born on July 13, 1953, in Kerrville, Texas, and passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family in Mansfield, Texas.

Skip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, cousin and a cherished friend to many. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Twila Ashton, who passed away on January 28, 2025. Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and faith, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service that touched countless lives.

Skip is survived by his daughters, Julie Christenson and Dawn Lane; his son-in-law, Craig Christenson; and his treasured grandchildren, Erica Christenson, Noah Christenson, Gage Lane, Seth Lane, and Jade Lane. Skip is also survived by his sister-in-law, Wilma Border; his nieces, Andrea Silkey and Renee Taylor; and his cousins David Wright and Todd Wright.

Skip was known for his unwavering generosity and his remarkable ability to fix just about anything. He took great pride in handling many of his own home and auto repairs, always finding satisfaction in solving problems with patience and precision. Whether it was tackling a household project or lending a hand to a friend in need, Skip approached everything he did with care and craftsmanship.

Skip began his professional journey as a store manager at Radio Shack, where he developed his skills in leadership and customer service. He then advanced to become the General Manager of Ponca Wholesale, a role that led him and his family to relocate to Odessa. Later, Skip joined Tidwell Business Forms, where his dedication and expertise quickly became evident. Through hard work and perseverance, he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream by becoming the owner of Tidwell Business Forms. As the owner, Skip worked diligently to serve his customers and community, earning lasting respect for his attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to excellence.

Skip dedicated nearly 40 years as a proud and active member of the Odessa Downtown Lions Club, where he was recently honored for his outstanding service and leadership. Skip served for many years as a steadfast board member and past president, guiding the club with vision and integrity. His commitment extended beyond official title as he could often be found volunteering at the stadium concession stands, greeting everyone with a smile and a helping hand, and inspiring others through his example of selfless service.

His faith was a guiding force throughout his life. Skip was deeply involved in Celebrate Recovery at Crossroads Christian Church, where he volunteered weekly by assigning volunteers, creating schedules, and ensuring every meeting ran smoothly. He was also an inspiration to others, openly sharing his own testimony to encourage and uplift those walking similar paths of healing and growth.

Skip was also an integral part of the West Texas Kennel Club, where he volunteered as treasurer, coordinated local dog shows, and served as a show ring steward. His dedication to dogs and his community reflected the same compassion and care that defined every part of his life.
