June 5, 1959 – April 6, 2026

Stephen James Shafer, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on June 5, 1959, in France to Marthe Therese Shafer & James Andrew Shafer. He grew up in robust household with 10 Brothers and Sisters. The family traveled the country with the military in his earlier years. After James past Dale become a strong fatherly presence in his life. Steve served in the US Navy as a firefighter. He was also a carnie for a period of time, he was quite the “Ace”. Steve was also a charmer which resulted in the lives of his 5 beautiful girls.

Stephen was a devoted father and proud grandfather who deeply loved his family. He is survived by his daughters: Monique Silvis of Princeton, North Carolina; Stephanie Trowbridge of Abilene, Texas; Kellie Lara of Holloman AFB, New Mexico; Margeaux Oaks of Fort Worth, Texas; and Brittany Bertschy of Weatherford, Texas and Their spouses.

He was a cherished grandfather to Bryce, Sidney, Kendall, Kylie, Lindy, Kaiden, Natalia, Madilyn, Grant, Nova, Cooper, Lincoln, Lydia, and Liam, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Steve will be remembered for his vibrant personality and the way he made life interesting. He was a true foodie who loved a good meal, a lover of music, and someone who enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places. He was also a natural jokester who loved to make people laugh, and a storyteller who could keep you captivated—often a little longer than expected—with his long-winded tales & conspiracy theories.

His stories, laughter, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He’s is reunited in Heaven with his Father, Mother and Big Brother Jimmy.

He is survived by his stepfather Dale Barras and his siblings; Beatriz “Betty” Cory, TX, Anthony “Tony” Shafer, KS, Sylvia Senecal, KS, Phillip Shafer, KS, Francine Climer, GA, Michael Shafer,KS, Robert Shafer, MO, Monique Herbel,KS, Claudale Arterburn,KS.
