Susie Marie Baker

Susie Marie Baker, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 87.

Susie was born on February 8, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Orville and Fannie Whitaker. She was raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where she spent most of her life and made a lifetime of memories surrounded by the people she loved. Susie graduated from Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School in 1957.

Susie found joy in the simple things in life. She loved fishing at the river, spending time with her family, and, perhaps unexpectedly, playing video games. Above all, she treasured the time she shared with her loved ones. Her laughter, personality, and love for her family created memories that will remain in their hearts forever.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie and Orville Whitaker; her son, James A. Orr; and her sisters, Betty Stewart and Patty Randall.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward, including her daughters, Scheryl Wright; Robin Tarkington and her husband, Joey; and Lillie Neal and her husband, Johnny. She also leaves her beloved “ride or die,” Jana Price and her husband, Kelly, whose friendship and companionship were so special to her.

Susie’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jessica Wright, Louis Wright and his wife, Mindi, Stephanie Wright, Thomas Mullins, Ollie Marie Neal, Shaun Bhatty, Ashley Smith, and Justin Tarkington, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Though Susie is no longer with us, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lessons she shared will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
