Teresa Lucille (VanGundy) Anderson, 77, of Burleson, Texas, passed away on April 2, 2026, at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas. Born on August 1, 1948, in Hamburg, Iowa, to Dick and Judy (Johnston) VanGundy, Teresa lived a life defined by creativity, devotion, and an unwavering love for the people and community around her.
Teresa discovered her passion for beauty and style early in life, graduating from cosmetology school in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1966. What began as a young woman's calling, became a remarkable career spanning 60 years. Teresa considered her work as a hair stylist not merely a profession but a true joy, a craft she loved so deeply that she often described it as her favorite hobby. Behind the salon chair, she built lasting relationships, lifted spirits, and made countless people feel beautiful. Her dedication to the industry she loved never wavered, and she was still celebrating her life's work well into her later years.
On February 17, 1979, Teresa married Phil Anderson in Eldorado, Kansas, beginning a partnership that would endure for 47 devoted years. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and community. They welcomed their two cherished sons, Rhyan and Corey, into their union. Teresa embraced her role as a coach's wife for more than 30 years, faithfully supporting Phil through seasons of competition, travel, and the unique rhythms that come with a life shaped by athletics. She was a constant presence on the sidelines, cheering with pride and lending her steadfast encouragement. Teresa possessed a remarkable sense of style and took great care in her appearance, always dressing to impress. That same eye for beauty extended into every corner of her life. She loved decorating her home and salon, tending to her yard, and collecting authentic Indian artifacts, surrounding herself with pieces that reflected her appreciation for craftsmanship and history. She found delight in shopping, attending plays and musicals, and cheering at sporting events. In everything she did, Teresa brought warmth, energy, and an unmistakable sense of flair. Above all, Teresa treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, a proud mother, and a doting grandmother whose presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Dick VanGundy, and her mother, Judy (Johnston) VanGundy; brother Gordon VanGundy; her father-in-law John Anderson and mother-in-law Marie Anderson; nephews Colby and Dustin VanGundy.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Phil Anderson of Burleson, Texas; her sons, Rhyan (Kelsey) Anderson of Burleson, Texas; Corey (Shelby) Anderson of Midlothian Texas; and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler & Dylan Anderson of Burleson, Texas; Colby, Connor & Colin Anderson of Midlothian, Texas; sister-in-law Janet Creedon of Ottawa, Illinois; sister in-law Sally VanGundy, Tarkio, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Teresa carried her faith with quiet grace throughout her life. Her kindness, generosity, and love for her community reflected the values she held dear. Those who knew her take comfort in knowing she rests now in the peace and presence of the Lord she served.
