Cleburne, TX

Tom Wayne Harrington, 61, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026 in Cleburne, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at The Songbird Live in Cleburne. Tom was born in Sweeny, TX on June 2, 1965 to Frank and Lois Harrington and was the youngest of their four children. He spent his childhood in Sweeny growing up with his two brothers and sister. He loved to be outdoors and was always looking for adventure! It was clear from a very early age that Tom was not content with following in the same footsteps as his siblings and wanted to create a unique identity for himself. During his high school years, Tom enjoyed agriculture and working in the industry. Throughout high school he worked for a local ranch and feed store in Brazoria county. He loved working with his hands and gained the knowledge of how to fix things from his father. He was ambitious and no stranger to hard work. He graduated from Sweeny High School class of 1983 and attended Blinn College. Tom continued his education by attending Texas A&M and Tarleton State University. Tom relocated to Cleburne in 1986 and remained in the area until his passing. He graduated from Tarleton in 1988 with a Bachelor's in Business. Tom worked as a commercial realtor for several years until he became self-employed in his own business doing: signs, lighting, and aerial work along with many other things.

In 1995 (-2008) Tom married Jennifer Hedrick. They were blessed with two sons, Ben and Thomas of whom Tom was very proud. He taught his children how to be independent and infused the mechanical abilities and agricultural knowledge that he learned throughout his life, along with many other practical values.

Tom always enjoyed motorsports and eventually obtained a quarter mile drag boat. He traveled with his sons racing for multiple summers afterward and achieved his life long need for speed.

Tom found his late-life partner Mara Wilson in 2021. He greatly enjoyed the company of Mara's mom Lou Wilson and treated her as a second mother. Tom and Mara made many memories and deeply enjoyed their time together. They appreciated spending time with their dog Lucy and traveling to new destinations. He was looking forward to their upcoming cruise to Mexico and always anticipated seeing new sights.

Tom would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter Haislee Lynne. Tom was a wonderful storyteller and made every personal interaction interesting and memorable. He will be missed by many, and forever in the hearts of those who had the opportunity to know and love him. He had lessons still to teach to his boys and granddaughter and many adventures left to follow. He will be forever missed.

Tom is survived by his sons, Benjamin J. Harrington (wife Ciara), Thomas R. Harrington; partner Mara Wilson; brothers Craig (wife Lisa) and Roy (wife Teri); sister Nikki (husband Ray George); granddaughter Haislee Lynne; nieces Blayne, Bailey, and Raye; nephews Bryce and Bobby; and many other family and friends.
