Tyler Scott Stewart passed away on June 6, 2026, at the age of 18, surrounded by the people who loved him most.
By his side were his mother, Crystal Wakeland, and his father, Cody Stewart; his stepfather, Philip Wakeland, and his stepmother, Denise Stewart; and his siblings, Brook Stewart, Casey Stewart, Tanner Stewart.
Tyler had a way of making everyone feel like a friend. He was caring, compassionate, and effortlessly funny, with a personality that could light up any room. Growing up, he was known as the class clown, always making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him. His smile, humor, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Basketball was one of Tyler's greatest passions. From the time he was young, he wanted to be on the court every chance he got. He also had an incredible ability to adapt to any situation and make the best of it, no matter what life brought his way.
To his mom, Tyler wasn’t just a son—he was one of her very best friends. They shared a bond and love that ran incredibly deep, filled with countless memories, endless laughter, and the kind of silly moments that never needed a filter. Their relationship was one of complete comfort, joy, and unconditional love, and those precious memories will be treasured forever.
Tyler adored his siblings and was the kind of big brother who always made time to play, laugh, and create unforgettable memories with them. They looked forward to every visit because they knew Tyler would make every moment fun.
He shared a special love of fishing and cars with his dad, Cody. Whether they were out on the water or enjoying anything with fast or fancy cars, those moments together were some of Tyler’s favorites. His dad will always smile remembering that Tyler somehow seemed to catch the bigger fish every single time and was simply the best fishing buddy anyone could ask for. Tyler was incredibly smart and deeply caring to everyone around him, qualities that made him not only an amazing son but an amazing friend to so many.
His bond with his sister, Brook, was extraordinary. Growing up, they were inseparable, and Tyler's mom often joked that Brook was like his second mom because he always wanted to be wherever she was. Their love and closeness remained constant throughout his life.
Tyler was also blessed with two loving stepparents, Philip Wakeland and Denise Stewart, who embraced him as one of their own and loved him deeply.
His faith was an important part of his story.
Tyler accepted Jesus at Crossroads Christian Church on March 30, 2018, alongside his mom and his sister, Brook. He was so excited about his decision that he was baptized again the very next day with his grandmother and Poppa before anyone could catch him he was running down the aisle at the decisions—a story that has become a treasured family memory and perfectly reflects his joyful spirit and enthusiastic heart. Being baptized not once, but 3 times in two days:)
Tyler loved fishing, basketball, Hawaii, fast cars, and good food. His family lovingly joked that no matter where they went, the first place Tyler would find was the bathroom—a running joke that still brings smiles through tears.
He is survived by his loving parents, Crystal Wakeland and Cody Stewart; his stepparents, Philip Wakeland and Denise Stewart; his siblings, Brook Stewart, Casey Stewart, Tanner Stewart, Luke Wakeland, and Bailey Wakeland; and his beloved grandmothers, Sherri Varela, Phyllis Wakeland, and Cora Shadwick, along with many other family members and countless friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved grandmother, Mary Forbes, and now rests in the presence of his Savior.
Tyler's huge heart, contagious laughter, and unwavering love for his family will be missed beyond words but never forgotten. His memory will continue to live on in every shared laugh, every cast of a fishing line, every basketball game, every fast car, and in the hearts of all who loved him.
Memorial service information will be shared as soon as arrangements have been finalized.
