CROWLEY — Victor Hall Lipsey Sr. stepped into Heaven’s glory early Monday morning, October 20, 2014. He was 79 and an inspiring Christian, fervent patriot, and decorated Air Force colonel. Vic touched lives and changed lives wherever he went. He loved the Lord and left a remarkable legacy of laughter, honesty, patience and generosity. He possessed extraordinary organizational and leadership skills. Vic lived to make the world a better place, and loved world missions. He served in a leadership capacity with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) and World Concern. Our nation’s youngest B-52 commander, Vic served during the Cuban missile crisis with the Strategic Air Command, and flew F-4s in combat. The F-86 was his favorite plane. His long military career spanned tours in Japan, Thailand, and Hawaii. In Morocco, he served as the Assistant Air Force Attaché. In the Pentagon, he drafted plans for the U.S. to exit Vietnam. In retirement, he started the Texas State flying school (Abilene), and ran the flying school at Auburn University (Alabama). Vic was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, the oldest of 8. He was married to Annette Jackson for 55 years, and raised 3 children: Kathryn (Lipsey) Carpenelli, Kelli (Lipsey) Gnile, and Victor Lipsey, Jr. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
