Virginia “Ginny” Hallquist

Virginia “Ginny” Hallquist went to be with the Lord on the morning of March 17, 2024 in Stephenville, Texas. Ginny was born in Jamestown, New York on May 22, 1944 to Don and Jean Marz. Growing up she enjoyed exploring, nature, and teaching herself many different skills including cooking. She was a social butterfly, great student, and known for occasional pranks. In 1964, Ginny met her husband and love of her life C.R. Hallquist at the Gerry Rodeo in Gerry, New York. They were married on June 26, 1965 and spent 59 amazing years together. C.R. and Ginny had two daughters Debbie and Sheri, five grandchildren Nicole, Natalie, Kayla, Ty, and Zane along with 8 great grandchildren. After C.R.’s time in the military, they picked up their family and moved to Texas. Ginny became known for her horse training and was an accomplished barrel racer. She always loved a challenge of raising any animal she could find on their farm and her garden was magazine worthy. Later in life after settling down in Lipan, Texas, Ginny enjoyed having her grandchildren and great children running around their place but most days you could find her working outside in the yard, doing her beautiful leather working, or in her goat pens. She also had a love for music especially Elvis and you could find her bobbing her head to it even until her final days. Her greatest accomplishments were being a homemaker, loving and caring for her family, and raising her prized show goats. She was a hard working, tough, and strong woman with unwavering faith that will live on for generations to come. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Jean Marz and her grandson, Ty Drury. Survivors include her husband, C.R. Hallquist, her daughters Debbie Holcomb and husband Seth, and Sheri Drury and husband Jimmy. Her sisters Dorothy Jacobson and Donna Traniello. Her grandchildren Nicole Wells and husband Joey, Natalie Stanley and husband Jonathan, Kayla Garcia, and Zane Drury. Her 8 great grandchildren Scout, Stetson, Wyatt, Ava, Trae, Jaxon, Taylor, and Jase. Along with numerous cousins and other family members. She will be missed by all those who were blessed to know her. Services will be held at the Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church 2731 S FM 129 Santo TX 76472 at 2:00 pm on Monday March 25, 2024.
