CROWLEY — William K. Hawkins, Papa Bill or “Bill,” 79, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, after battling West Nile virus.        Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Monday.        William was born in Fort Worth on Oct. 21, 1935. He graduated from Paschal High School and received a football scholarship from Ranger College. He also attended TCU. He loved his family immensely and never met a stranger. He was actively involved in Christ Chapel Church where he loved singing in the choir every Sunday. He was also a longtime member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church.        William founded Comprobe Inc., a global oil well logging equipment business in Crowley for over 40 years. He was an avid ham radio operator since he was very young. He loved scavenging the salvage yards, dirt bike riding, travel, nature, hunting and his three dogs, Chase, Bear and Gypsy.        He remained close to his former wife, Rosa Hawkins.        Survivors: Son, Michael Hawkins; daughter, Melinda Moore; stepchildren, Gary, Terri and Mariah Edgman; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; amd his best friend and love of his life, Rosa Hawkins.
